Family owned & personally led

It started with family. And family still shapes how we care.

Rosewood Gardens began with a deeply personal belief: when someone places a person they love in your care, you should care for them as you would want your own family cared for — with dignity, patience, kindness and genuine human connection.

How Rosewood Gardens began

Rosewood Gardens was born from something deeply personal.

Our founder, Jega Rajan, lost his parents at a relatively young age. As the years passed, one thought never left him: he wished he could have done more — spent more time with them, cared for them the way they deserved.

Jega went on to build a successful international career in technology, holding senior leadership and director-level roles with Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq and HP, and later serving as a CEO before retiring from corporate life. But retirement was never about stepping away. For years, he had been quietly thinking about how to do something meaningful for older people — and for families facing the same questions he had once faced himself.

Around twelve years ago, that purpose led him to Rosewood Gardens. It was never simply a business investment. It was the chance to build something founded on service, compassion and dignity: a place where older people are treated the way we would all want our own parents treated — with kindness, patience, respect and genuine human connection.

For us, aged care is not simply a service. It is caring for someone's mother, father, husband, wife — someone's whole world.

That philosophy still guides us today. As our services have grown — from our purpose-built 45-bed residence in Ashburton to Support at Home, NDIS and private care across Melbourne and Sydney — our purpose has never changed: helping people live with dignity, independence, safety and a sense of belonging, while giving families confidence that the people they love are genuinely cared for.

That is how Rosewood Gardens began. And that is why we are still here.

In practice, that means we roster a consistent small team wherever possible, so clients and residents can build familiar, trusted relationships — a full continuum of support, from a few hours of help at home to 24/7 residential care, under one family's dedicated ownership.

We support people with dignity and respect at every stage: those who are independent, those with complex clinical needs, those living with dementia, and those requiring end-of-life palliative care. Our team partners with you and your family to make sure you are well cared for, feel safe, and are living well.

Our purpose

What we believe shapes how we care

Our values aren't words on a wall. They guide how we listen, how we show up, how we make decisions and how we care for people every day.

Our mission

Care that helps people live well

To support each person to live with dignity, choice, independence and genuine human connection — wherever they call home. We bring together compassionate people, personalised support and clinical capability so individuals and families can feel safe, understood and confident in their care.

Our vision

A better experience of care

To build a community where exceptional care feels personal, relationships endure, and every person is known for who they are — not simply for the support they need.

Our values in action

We care with heart

Kindness isn't an extra — it's where care begins. We take time to listen, notice the little things and treat every person with warmth.

We see the person

Your life should shape your care. Your routines, culture, relationships, preferences and goals matter — we build support around the person, not the other way around.

We protect dignity & choice

Support should never take away someone's voice. We respect privacy, independence, personal decisions and the right to live life your own way.

We build relationships that last

Trust grows through familiar faces. We value continuity and genuine relationships between the people we support, their families and our team.

We take responsibility for good care

Compassion must be backed by capability. We hold ourselves accountable, communicate openly and continually strengthen the quality and safety of our care.

What began as one family's belief became the values that guide Rosewood Gardens today.
